A gorup that I am part of at school is trying to establish a community garden at the school. This is a relatively new concept to me and I didn't realize how many people in the Victoria area take part in them. Growing up in Saskatchewan I never really came into contact with the idea and any mention of community gardens tended to be by the fringe of population.
At first I wasn't real keen on the idea. It seemed like something that would work for a year or so and then die off. Yet in Victoria many community gardens have been running for years and are consistently full. The more that I work on this project the more I begin to appreciate the benefits that a community garden would offer.
We hope to sell the produce to either students, the school cafeteria or possibly people off campus. The idea selling to students and the general public is the most interesting to me as a whole new community dynamic may develop. A monthly farmers market could be held on campus and we may attract more people to have a look at the Royal Roads campus.
Anyway that's enough rambling for today.

New Semster and a Blog
Now entering my second term at Royal Roads University it still amazes me that there is a damn castle on my school ground. I suggest that anyone living near Victoria make a trip down to see the campus. The castle, flower gardens, and the walking paths through old growth forest always make we wonder how in the hell I got lucky enough to be at a campus like this.
