The piece of the article that I find most interesting is the governements proposed solution. Throw a large wad of money at it and cut jobs, about 200 according to the article. This is definately an instance of poor engagement on the governments part. The government has failed to ask those working in the system what is needed and has instead just tryed to but its way out. It would seem to me that the ideal solution for this problem would be to ask those involved. Or maybe shift the child welfare system to a more localized authority. The federal governenment could then use its current policy of handing out money while the local area could decide how the money would be best spent on the children.

Child Welfare System in BC
A recent article in the Times Colonist(http://www.timescolonist.com/Life/Child+welfare+system+crisis/1326357/story.html), talks about how the current child welfare system is pretty much pooched and is in need of major restructuring. This in and of itself does not seem to present a major problem as the system should be able to change in order to accommodate what is now needed. The new requirements seem to boil down to mostly an increase in manpower to cover the children that are currently in the system or will be entering the system.
